Harvey David Mumaw was born on Jan 21, 1919, in Wooster, the first born of Adam H and Clara B (Zook) Mumaw.

Harvey graduated in 1938 from Wooster High School. He attended Goshen College and then went into Civilian Peace Service, serving at Sideling Hill, Pa and Delaware State Mental Hospital.

Harvey married Mary E Brubaker on Dec 8, 1946. They were blessed with twin daughters, who completed their family.

Early on he owned and operated a milk route and later he delivered chips for New Era Potato. He also worked for his brother-in-law Arthur Brubaker as a Ford tractor mechanic spending many off time hours problem solving for area farmers. His final job before retirement was trucking for Walter Jones Construction.

After his retirement, he moved to Florida where he loved chauffeuring persons here and there.

He was a very active and social person and as a young adult he loved to play baseball and sing. He belonged to the Jaycee's, served as a president of PTA many years and was active in Wooster Hobo's camping club. Harvey was a charter member of Wooster Mennonite Church and later a member at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio where he taught Sunday School. After moving to Florida he attended Bay Shore Mennonite Church.

In the later years of his life he was legally blind and credited Lighthouse for the Blind with teaching him skills to continue to live on his own.

Surviving are daughters, grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife of 52 years Mary, son-in-law Larry Schlabach and triplet granddaughters.

In the final days of his life, he wished to be an example to his daughters and grandchildren, he did not complain even in his discomfort and continued to use humor. The family wishes to thank the many persons who visited and called, showing acts of kindness and love to Harvey and his family.
