Braunel, Anne F.

Anne F. Braunel, age 91, of Sacred Heart Court, Manitowoc, and formerly of County Trunk T, Whitelaw, died Friday morning, Oct. 29, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Anne was born April 23, 1913, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Lemberger. She was a graduate of St. Boniface Parochial Grade School and then attended Manitowoc Vocational School. On Sept. 30, 1933, Anne married Arthur R. Braunel at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1986. Prior to her marriage, Anne was employed at Manitowoc City Hall. In 1942 she and her husband purchased the old Gordy Hallwach's Tavern in Manitowoc Rapids. In 1949 they added the bowling alley and operated under the name of Braunel's Lanes until their retirement in 1972. The couple then built a home in the Reifs Mills area.

Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-laws, Lee and Yvonne Braunel, Manitowoc; Glenn and Rose Braunel, St. Louis, MO; Tim and Marilyn Braunel, Green Bay; six grandchildren, Denise (Mark) Heller, Two Rivers; Andrew (Kim) Braunel, Neenah; Matthew (Christin) Braunel, St. Louis, MO:, Bryan Braunel, St. Louis, MO; Joyanna (Bernard) Bull, Thiensville; Zachary (Emilie) Braunel, Sparks, NV, and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, Katherine Koszut, Chicago, Ill; and three sisters-in-law, Evangeline Bast, Manitowoc; Germaine Buchner, Milwaukee; Elaine Buchner, Manitowoc; and many other relatives and friends.

Anne was preceded in death by an infant twin sister, Hildegard Buchner; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Art Urban, Margaret and Ron McDonell, Loyola and William Kurth, Helen and Glen LeClair; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Florence Buchner, Joe and Lorraine Buchner, Richard Buchner, and Ed Buchner.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Jugenheimer with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Nov. 1, 2004, at St. Michael's Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Sacred Heart Court and Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for the wonderful care and many kindnesses shown to Anne and the family.
