Mrs. Esther M. Brown, 66, of 30 High St, died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, October 17, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake where she was admitted Tuesday. Death followed a heart attack. She was born in Tupper Lake on June 26, 1925, a daughter of Harley and Nina Benjamin LaFave, and attended the local schools, graduating from Tupper Lake High School. On December 24, 1940 she was married here to Roy J. Brown, who survives her. Mrs. Brown was employed for about 20 years as a bookkeeper and a saleslady at Chalmers Radio & TV shop here. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Tupper Lake Country Club and the Bingo Club. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons: Roy "Chipper" Brown of East Haddam, Conn., and Timothy Brown, Tupper Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Gregory (Nancy) S mith of Rochester; four grandchildren; a brother, Donald LaFave of Liverpool, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. Doris Vaughn of Vernon, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. A Mass of the resurrection was celebrated by Msgr. Edmund H. Dumas, parochial vicar, at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Church and interment was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad may be arranged through the Rennell Funeral Home, where calling hours were observed Sunday.
