She was the daughter of James N. Rice Sr. and Annette Morton Rice.

On April 9, 1932 as Serena Margaret Rice, she married Robert Hull Love at Vancouver, Clark County, Washington.

On April 5, 1935 as Serena R. Love, she married William B. Douthit at Multnomah County,

Oregon.

They were the parents of one child.

On April 29, 1946 their marriage ended in divorce at Multnomah County, Oregon.

On December 7, 1946 as Serena Rice Douthit, she married John Bradford McGregor at Portland, Oregon.


Serena Rice McGregor was born July 22, 1911, in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Grant High School and attended the University of Oregon. She was an engineering draftsman for the Oregon Insurance Rating Bureau for more than 20 years before retiring in 1973. She then became a kitchen designer for J & J Kitchens and Remodeling for two years. Next, she was a crew supervisor for Emergency Home Repair for the city of Portland, Oregon. After that, she delivered flowers for Tommy Luke Florists. She died at age 87 on August 29, 1998. She was predeceased by her husband, John B. Jack McGregor who died in 1959. They married in 1946. Survivors included two daughters of Portland, Oregon; one daughter of Manzanita, Oregon; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one brother, James N. Rice of Portland. Memorial services were held at Rose City Park Presbyterian Church. Her remains were cremated and interred at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Oregon Humane Society or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Wilhelm Funeral Home.
