Visitation was held on Monday, April 18 at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home, Peshtigo from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., for Wallace C. Polzin, age 95, of Peshtigo, WI. Visitation continued on Tuesday, April 19 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grover from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles Learman officiated and burial was in St. John's Cemetery. He died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.
Born on Oct. 11, 1915, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha (Schmeling) Polzin.
On Aug. 31, 1940 he married the former Berneta Behnke at St. John's Church. She preceded him in death on July 1,2009.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grover and a charter member of the Men's Club. An avid Brewers and Packers fan, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons: Wallace Polzin, jr. of Washington Island, WI; Keith (Stacy) Polzin of Peshtigo, WI and Alan (Nancy) Polzin of Marinette,WI;
a daughter, Barbara (Cliff) Anderson of Peshtigo, WI;
16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren
and August Techmeier
and four sisters-in-law, Alice Polzin, Caroline Tackmier, Vivian Carlson and Jenette Behnke.
Along with his parents and wife, Berneta, he was preceded in death by a son Everette; a daughter, Linda Lee Polzin;
four brothers, Ervin, Lavern, Harold and Willard;
two sisters, Viola Lepinsky and Eleanor Ahrens
and a daughter-in-law, Donna Polzin.
