Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. An automatic rifleman, his unit attacked the strongly defended Paco Railroad station in Manila, Philippines. On his own initiative he and a comrade left the platoon, and attacked the station, killing more than 82 men, destroying a 20mm gun and a heavy machine gun. While retreating his companion was killed. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for this action.
