Geraldine A. (Gerry) Pace Sherson

Gerry died from natural causes after 89 loving and life-filled years. She was born to Frank and Edith Bennett in Woodland, WA and joined a family with two older brothers, Stanton and Layton. The family moved to Forest Grove, OR early in her life where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1941. Thereafter, she attended Pacific University where she met both of her future husbands. She majored in music. She married Terry M. Pace on February 1, 1948. The young couple soon moved to Lebanon where Dr. Pace established an optometric practice in 1949. Gerry worked in the office for many years, while raising their children, Bonnie, Loren, and Layton. She attended the Lebanon First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Dr. Pace passed away in 1983, ending a happy 35-year marriage. On June 8, 1985, Gerry married Jerrold (Jerry) Sherson, whom she had met in 1941 at Pacific University before he left to serve in WWII. After 36 years in Lebanon, Gerry moved to Kent, WA where she and Jerry shared 25 years of loving marriage. They were members of Kent United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing the organ, and attending Red Hat Society events. Jerry passed away in October 2010. Gerry was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed. Gerry is survived by her brother Layton (Lou) Bennett, Haines, AK, children Bonnie (Dan) Delight, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Loren Pace, Bellevue, WA, and Layton (Laura) Pace, Manhattan Beach, CA, grandchildren Logan, Taylor and Anne Monique Pace, Step children Eric (Kathy) Sherson, Bothell, WA, Lynn (Michelle) Sherson, Enumclaw, WA, eight step grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Lebanon IOOF Cemetery on Saturday, April 28th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lebanon First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
