Mr. Rigdon was born in Tift County Georgia, the son of Berry Rigdon and Luna Baker Rigdon.
He was a veteran of WWII serving as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryne Moore McCraney Ridgon, daughters Julie McCraney-Brogdon and her husband William F. Brogdon of Snellville, Georgia, and Anna Rigdon McKenzie and her husband, Ernie McKenzie of Treasure Island, Florida; son Robley Smith Rigdon and his wife Kathy of Snellville, Georgia. Other survivors include Grandchildren: William Franklin Brogdon II, Kathryn Gray Brogdon, Natalie Wilkson and husband James, Angela Norbom and husband Brad, Robley Smith Rigdon, Jr. and wife Anne, James McArthur Rigdon and wife Jessica, Stephanie Rigdon Snoot and husband Charles VII.; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
