They moved to Boston about 1652, and there he bought land on the east side of Sudbury Street, then known as the lane from Prison Lane to the Mill Pond. His house remained in the family for five generations, and was pulled down by the British in 1775. William received Jan 3, 1656, for work on Fort Hill.Born about 1619 (aged 15 in 1635); deposed 16 Jun 1665 "aged 46 years;" deposed 31 Oct 1677 "aged 58 years," deposed 26 Jan 1679/80 "aged 62 years;" deposed 5 May 1683 "aged about sixty-four years;" deposed 28 Apr 1696 aged "about 77 years.
Mason who came to Massachusetts bay in 1635 on the "Planter." First settled in Braintree MA; moved to Boston in 1652. Died in Boston 24 Mar 1703/4 ("March 24, 1703/4 William Daws, mason, dies about 2 p.m. A good old man, full of days, is got well to the end of his weary race."
Married by 1642, Susanna Mills, born about 1623 (deposed 5 May 1683 "aged about sixty years;" deposed 2 Mar 1693/4 "aged about 70 years," daughter of JOHN MILLS {1630, Boston}. She died after 27 Feb 1694[/5] (when she acknowledged a deed with her husband. (In his will of 12 Jan 1677[/8], John Mills bequeathed to "my only son John Mills" & to "his sisters Mary Hawkins & Susannah Dawes.")
William Dawes is frequently associated in a vsariety of matters with Richard Knight. This may have been, of course, a simply business partnership.
