Lee Chastain of Pana died in Macon county hospital Tuesday while surgeons were operating in a vain effort to give him relief. Three weeks ago while working in a coal mine a falling timber struck him on the head inflicting the injury which caused his death. Following the accident he had steadily grown weaker and was brought to Decatur to submit to a surgical operation. Too long delayed that effort was futile.
Lee Chastain was born in Pana, Nov. 26, 1894 and had lived in that city the major portion of his life.
The surviving relatives are his wife,Cleota and his parents Mr. and Mrs. William Chastain,Decatur and his brothers Walter of Pana and Glenn of Decatur.
The body was taken to Morans undertaking rooms to be prepared for burial and then to Pana where services will be held.
