In 1853, Martha became the 1st wife of David R Remick. Martha raised her family in Burlington after her husband enlisted into the Union Army in 1861.
Only three weeks after her oldest brother Wm C Cameron passed away in Augusta, Iowa, Martha Ann (Cameron) Remick died in Burlington. Col Remick needed to make arrangements for the care of his children even though he was away fighting in the south during the Civil War.
Martha A Remick is buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, across the drive from her father James Cameron's other family plot.
