MILITARY FUNERALS WILL TAKE
PLACE HEMIC FOR PRIVATE
FORNEY S. RUPERT AND CORPORAL
LEO E. RICHMOND. WHO
LAID DOWN LIYES OVERSEAS
Word was received in this city yesterday,
by relatives, that the bodies
of Private Forney S. Rupert and Corporal
Leo E. Richmond, members of
the American Expeditionary Force,
who laid down their lives in France
are expected to arrive in Hoboken,
N. J., about May 7. Arrangements
have been made to bring the bodies
to this city with military escort and
funeral services will be held here.
Private Forney S. Rupert was a
member of one of the early local
draft contingents which went to
Camp Lee. but was later transferred
to a cantonment at Jacksonville,
Florida, where he was stationed until
his regiment left for France.
After being in France about two
months. Private. Rupert contracted
pneumonia and death resulted. Notice
of the coming of the body was
received by the young man's mother,
Mrs. C. E. Callahan of No. 44 Hobs-
on place. Besides his mother. Priv
ate Rupert is survived by two brothers.
George and Harry, and two sisters.
Alice and Arline, all of this city.
Corporal Leo E. Richmond, who is
a nephew of T. C. Kearns of No. 72
South avenue, was born in Bradford,
November, 1898. - He served in
France with Company H. 15th Inf
antry of Michigan. During an engagement
he was wounded and trans ferred
to a hospital where his death
occured October 2. 1918. The parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Richmond of
Onoway, Michigan, are now visiting
at the home of Mr and Mrs. Kearns.
Besides his parents, the young man is
survived by two brothers. Victor and
Karl of Onoway. The body will be
brought to Bradford for burial.
It is not definitely known when the
bodies of the two herors will arrive
in Bradford. Funeral arrangements
will be announced later.
