Wendell G. Barney, age 80, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in his home.
He was born June 19, 1931 in Bedford, Pa., son of the late W. Fred Barney and Mary Mundwiler Barney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Marthel 'Buster' Barney.
Wendell was a member of the Hutchinson Sportsmen Club, the B and D Sportsmen Club and owner of Barney's Saw Shop.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth L. Baer Barney; children, David A. Barney of Hopwood, Pa., Wendy J. Schiffbauer and Reginald Abraham of Ashburn, Va., Michael Barney of Uniontown, Pa. and Susan Laird of Hopwood, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Craig Schiffbauer and Heather Smith of Ashburn, Va.; Brett and Brian Laird of Litchfield, Ill., Jeffrey Barney of Hopwood, Pa., Brittany Laird of Litchfield, Ill., Jerry Barney of Uniontown, Pa., Joshua and Justin Abraham of Ashburn, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Cole Schiffbauer and Markus and Summer Smith; brother Donald Barney and wife Connie of Uniontown, Pa.; sisters, Marilyn Stothart and husband Bo of Arlington Heights, Ill., Barbara Marshall of Ashburn, Va., Bonnie Hopler and husband Paul of Annandale, Va. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday until 11:00 a.m., the hour of service with Pastor Paul Lesher officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
