My best friend in the world for almost 20 years. We met via a mutual interest in professional wrestling. She took over the wrestling column in the South Philly Review when columnist Alan Raskin died suddenly in 1993.
And, unknown to me, I was a fan of hers years before I knew her personally: She had many letters to the editor published in the Philadelphia Daily News (eclipsing my total by a landslide) where I agreed with 99.9% of what she wrote.
Over the years, our friendship evolved to include shared interests in genealogy, classic rock, politics, and pretty much everything else.
She was a voracious reader and loved her classic movies. She could quote lines from books and movies off the top of her head as if it were natural for her (and it was). I deeply admired that talent.
She was my twin - we agreed on almost everything. Learning she was sick was a sucker punch and then to see her succumb so quickly is something I will never get over.
Living life without her friendship will be extremely difficult. I will miss her sharp wit, clear observations, and her talent for not mincing her words. She did NOT suffer fools (nor illiteracy) gladly! Every time I see a Boston Terrier I will always think of her.
