Clifford was the son of Clarence Moss and Millie Hurley. About 1927 he married Marie Gutman and they had one daughter, Phyllis. At the time of his death he was a clerk. The 1940 Census also enumerated that he was a bookmaker in horse-racing. Clifford died of lobar pneumonia at the age of 42.
