Radio and Television Personality, Voice Actor. James Anthony Tapp was one of Canada's true icons of early radio. A noted broadcaster during the 1950s he helped shape Canada's talk shows of that era. Tapp who began his broadcasting career shortly after World War II went onto play the voice of 'Hercules' on the children's cartoon series, "The Mighty Hercules" in 1963. The cartoon became a classic and is still being shown in reruns around the world. Tapp also hosted or appeared in numerous television and radio shows, and films, including, "The Tapp Show", "Agronomy" (1956), "Network" in 1963, "Flashback" as host from 1967 to 1968, "Loving And Laughing" (1971), "The Heatwave Lasted Four Days" (1974), "Chocolate Eclair" (1979), "Of Unknown Origin" (1983), and "Spearfield's Daughter" (1986). Also a radio pioneer in Montreal and for CBC Radio he also did, "Carte Blanche", "A Kin To Win", and " Camera Call". Tapp died on November 20, 2004, at the age of 86, in Oakville, Ontario, a week before being inducted into the Canadian Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
