Max Arnel Vinecke, 61, known as "Mickey" by family and "Papa Max" by grandchildren and "Dad" by his kids of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 in his sleep at home as a result of congestive heart failure and COPD. He was born September 13, 1951 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Helen Marie Wise and Max Vernon Vinecke. Max's siblings include Carolyn Dreiling (deceased) of Thornton, CO, Phyllis Daniels of Weatherford, TX, Robert "Bobby" Thomas and Brian Thomas of Las Vegas, NV. Graduated from Adams City High in Commerce City, CO to later join the United States Air Force in November of 1973, where he worked as a strategic aircraft maintenance specialist on the KC 135, B-52, 5-15, and the F-4. He worked honorably on President Ronald Reagan's aircraft, Air Force One. He worked as the NCOIC, or non-commissioned officer in-charge", of fitness and recreation. He served from August 2, 1990 to November 30, 1993 in support of operation Desert Storm/Shield. His last duty assignment in major command was the 384th MWRSS at McConnell AFB, KS. He served a total of 6 years overseas in Germany. He was awards include Occupational Award, The National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Oak leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Grad Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 5 Oak leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 3 Oak leaf Clusters. Max was an avid Denver Broncos and NASCAR fan, Max loved going to a race, watching it on TV, and his favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He loved his grandchildren and would bend over backwards for them. His children knew how proud he was of all of them. Anyone could feel his caring heart, contagious laugh and smile, and his dedication to work, family, and country. He was a member of Council Road Baptist Church or Bethany, Oklahoma. Max is survived by his wife of 28 years since January 7, 1985, Selby Ann Fairless Vinecke of Oklahoma City, OK, his son Max Arnel Vinecke, Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX, his son Michael Curt Vinecke and spouse Lisa Vinecke of Fort Worth, TX, stepson Brendan Lee Eddards and spouse "Summer" Sui Hong Bo of Oklahoma City, stepson Brad Lee Eddards and spouse Stephanie Eddards of Ft. Worth, TX, stepson Rick Allen Calbert of Oklahoma City, daughter Stephanie Nicole Higginbotham and spouse Daniel Higginbotham of Oklahoma City, daughter Shelly Marie Higginbotham and spouse David Higginbotham of Woodward, Ok, and daughter Karen Michelle Vinecke of Oklahoma City. He had one stillborn daughter, Angela Shevawn Vinecke. He is a grandfather of 16. He is predeceased by his sister Carolyn Dreiling of Thornton, Co and his daughter, Angela Shevawn Vinecke, and his granddaughter, Mariah Nicole Vinecke, and his father, Max Vernon Vinecke. Services were held 10:00 AM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Council Roads Baptist Church in Bethany with interment in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.
