Actor. He began his career playing a variety of roles in silent films, for a series of comedy shorts for Universal, and made his big screen debut as a teenager in "The Birth of a Nation" (1915). It was during the 1930s to 1940s where he achieved his greatest success, appearing as a villain in scores of B westerns movies. His more then 400 credits include "The Roaring West" (1935), "The Idaho Kid" (1936), "Death Rides the Range" (1939), "Arizona Stage Coach" (1942), "Ambush Trail" (1946) and "Oklahoma Blues" (1948). He also appeared as a regular on the original "Gunsmoke" television series. He died at age 62 in Hollywood, California.
