Professional Football Player. For ten seasons (1966 to 1975), he played at the tackle position in the American and National Football Leagues with the San Diego Chargers. Born Terry Woodrow Owens, he attended Samson High School (Alabama) where he first became acclimated to sports and played collegiate football in addition to baseball at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. He earned a degree in Biology and following graduation, he pursued his professional football career, as he was selected by San Diego during the 11th round of the 1966 AFL Draft. Owens established himself a durable player as he secured the starting left-tackle spot in 1968, 1973 and 1974, totaling 132 career regular season games. After retiring from football, he worked in the insurance industry.
