He was born in Chicago, June 3, 1924 to Polish Immigrants Leo and Agnes (Kuziel) Glowacki. He was proud of being first generation American born. He was a former member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in the West Pullman area of Chicago and worked in West Pullman at Ingersoll Products for 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in several major battles, Normandy, Rhineland, The Ardenne Forest and Northern France. He was awarded Silver Star with 3 clusters and was honored by the French Government with the French Freedom medal in 2002.
He and his wife Genevieve "Ginny", who survives him, were married in Valparaiso, IN on December 29, 1977 and moved to Sun City, AZ on August 1, 1990. His first Christmas here he was hired by Metro Center as its first authentic Santa Claus and appeared in "The Max the Moose Show." His fame spread throughout the state and bus loads of children were driven in to Phoenix to visit with "THE REAL" Santa!
He is further survived by his daughter Diane Glowacki (Bing Zielka) of Antioch, IL, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 other children.
He was a member of the Senior Polka Assn. of AZ and a former member of the Polish American Club of Sun City and The VFW. He volunteered for the Society of St. Vincent dePaul for 7 years and enjoyed his membership in the Parish Men's Club. A Memorial Mass, with full Military Honors, will be held at the Church of St. Joachim & St. Anne, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City AZ on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. His last charitable act was to donate his body to Biological Resource Center so that others may learn from his remains. His cremains will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery in the Spring.
