Clara Mae Stephens Barker was born to the late Charles (Charlie) and Annie Stephens in Wartrace, TN. She departed this life at the Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ.
Clara was a life-long member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Baptized as an infant she remained a faithful servant until her death. As a child she attended the Tennessee public schools. She obtained her degrees from Tennessee A & I State College in 1922.
