Robert Gustin Anthony was born January 20, 1923 in Hague, Westmoreland County, Virginia, the son of Norris Fenwick Anthony Sr., and Sallie Marshall (Landman) Anthony. His siblings were Norris Fenwick Anthony, Jr. and Gladys M. Anthony.

He married October 5, 1944 to Helen Grace Skrabut.

Robert G. Anthony, 78, of Woodworth Avenue, died March 27, 2001 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. He was the husband of Helen G. (Skrabut) Anthony, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born and raised in Hague, Va., he was the son of the late Norris and Sallie M. (Landman) Anthony. He lived in Saugus for many years, moving to Portsmouth last August. He was a firefighter in the Chelsea Fire Department serving for more than 40 years.

Mr. Anthony also leaves a son, Wayne F. Anthony of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara J. Jovell of Raymond, N.H. and Maryrose Richer of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren; a brother, Fenwick Anthony of Virginia; a sister, Gladys Boykin of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson. The funeral was held March 29, at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton, N.H. The Rev. Carroll Moore officiated. The burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, N.H.
