Lois T. Allen, a Greenwich resident, passed away in her home while napping peacefully on July 3, 2016. Her husband, John; only daughter, Carole; son-in-law, Frederick; and caregiver, Cathriona, were all present watching a soccer game on television, chatting and enjoying each other's company.

Lois was born in 1926 at her parents home in Buffalo, New York to Clayton and Marion Thompson. She outlived her three siblings, Donald C. Thompson, Dorothy T. Le Seur, and Naomi T. Anderson.

Lois married John Edward Allen on September 2, 1949 and together they shared a marriage that spanned sixty-six years. Most of those years were spent in Mountainside, New Jersey in a family home that Lois adored and they lived in for forty-seven years. However, Lois and John did relocate to Greenwich in 2007 to be close to their only daughter, Carole Allen Brimberg; granddaughter, Miss Taylor Allen Brimberg; and son-in-law, Frederick Brimberg.

As grandparents, they were able to see Taylor grow up and compete both academically and athletically in both field hockey and sailing. Lois lived until her ninetieth year and saw Taylor obtain the highest academic honors from her business school and a well-earned spot as a summer analyst this summer at Morgan Stanley NYC.

Throughout her lifetime, Lois was a board member of the PTA, an executive board member of the Mountainside Women's Club, and enjoyed playing in a ladies bridge group and belonging to a gourmet cooking club. She also enjoyed running excursions for the Mountainside Gad-About group.

If Lois ever had a bad day, no one ever knew it. She died happy, secure, and loved right where she prayed to be: at home with all her family around and without pain.

Lois is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, John; her admiring daughter, Carole, and son-in-law, Frederick; and her prized granddaughter, Taylor Allen Brimberg. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Allen, and his family; and nephews and nieces.

A beautiful graveside service of Thanksgiving is planned for Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich.
