E. Ruth Andrews, a resident of Burlington, MA, for seven years, passed away on Sunday afternoon, (August 24, 2008). The beloved wife of Larry McCloskey for 19 years, Ruth was 53 years old.


Ruth was born in Chapel Hill, NC, the second of eight children, and grew up in Canton. Ruth moved to California in 1987, where she lived for 14 years before moving to Burlington, MA. Ruth worked in the computer industry for over 30 years. After a lengthy career doing support for Nixdorf Computer in Burlington and Long Beach, CA, Ruth became a support engineer for Bus-Tech, Inc, in 1992, working first in California, and most recently in Burlington. In 1994, Ruth took a temporary hiatus from the computer business to found and operate South Bay Homebrew Supply in Torrance, CA for five years. Ruth had a love of dance, art, and music from early childhood. An avid reader, she never stopped learning. She immersed herself thoroughly in every vocation and avocation that she undertook, and she'd never leave a problem unsolved.


Ruth will be missed as a loving wife, a loyal friend, a devoted daughter, and supportive sister. Ruth was the daughter of Robert U. Andrews of Granby, and the late Margaret Andrews. Ruth is also survived by stepchildren Jennifer Dawson and her husband David Dawson of Texas, Robert McCloskey of California, and Kristina McCloskey of NV, six grandchildren, her siblings Woody Andrews of California, Bill Andrews of Montana, Martha Drapeau of Connecticut, Gerry Andrews of Florida, Tim Andrews of Florida, Carol Laufersky of Florida, and Jamie Andrews of Connecticut, as well as their spouses, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. She is also survived by her beloved 16 year old cat Maggie.


Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, August 29 at 1 p.m. Visiting hours on Thursday from 5–8 p.m.
Interment will be held at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich on Saturday, August 30 at 2 p.m.
