SSgt. U.S. Army Veteran, World War II-Mr. Anczer died at the young age of 62 in Steger, Illinois.

He is the son of Mr. Anton & Mrs. Frances Anczer of Chicago, Illinois, and a 1942 graduate of the Chicago Catholic School System.

He is the husband of Mrs. Lois { McCarthy} Anczer of Steger, Illinois, and she is the daughter of Mr. John & Mrs. Lucille McCarthy of Illinois, and they leave one son, Mr. Steve Anczer of Steger.

Mr. Anczer enlisted in the Army as a Private in 1943, and served in the European Theater of Operations as an Infantryman, and was captured in France on 9-11-1944, and was a POW of the Germans for six months, and released on March 20, 1945,

Awards: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, European Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, POW Medal.

Footnote: Florian was one of nine children, one girl, and eight boys in which one child, Pvt. Anton E. Anczer was killed in action on 12-15-1943 at Salerno, Italy, and is buried at the American National Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.
