Mary Ann Bandura, 88, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at her home in Streator, with her daughters Nancy, Janice, and Susan by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Jacob Rose will officiate.

Visitation will be held that morning from 9-11 A.M. at the Solon-Telford Funeral home, 301 S. Park Street, Streator. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, also in Streator, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Stan.

Born September 10, 1927, she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Perhach) Churney, and lived her entire life in Streator. She married Stanley T. Bandura on August 13, 1949 at St. Stephen’s Church. He died unexpectedly on February 24, 1972, when he was only 46 and Mary Ann 42 years old.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers Andrew, Fred, and James Churney.

An energetic and charismatic person, Mary Ann loved music, singing, and dance. She played multiple musical instruments without any formal training. While she had dreamed of a career on the stage, she fell in love with Stan – and led a happy married life. She and her three daughters withstood Stan’s tragic early death by relying on each other, forming a tight bond that would keep them extraordinarily close and devoted to one another’s well-being and happiness. Mary Ann chose never to marry again and spoke of her lasting love for Stan in her final moments.

With her quick, clever wit and easy, charming smile, Mary Ann made friends everywhere she went. During her more than 25 years at Thatcher’s Glass, she entertained her co-workers while nonetheless working tirelessly to support her three girls. She was a single mom before anybody was using the term. Everyone who has ever met Mary Ann has a great story about her – a testament to her boundless spirit and unrelenting individuality.
