Mrs. Virginia Anderson, age 87, formerly of Comstock Park, passed away early on Tuesday morning, April 27, 2010, at Heather Hills Care Center. She attended Western Michigan University and Georgetown University for undergraduate work and earned her Master's Degree from University of Michigan. Mrs. Anderson taught Latin and English at Belding High School and Forest Hills High School. She was a longtime member of Comstock Park United Church of Christ. During her leisure time, Mrs. Anderson enjoyed traveling, reading, and knitting. She made knitted caps for the newborns at Spectrum-Downtown and knitted hats and mittens for the children at Bethany Christian Services. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Robert) Goethal of Ada; sons, Kent (Elaine) Anderson of Nashville, TN, Bruce Anderson of Davisburg, MI; grandchildren, Kyle and Montelle Curtis, Tyler and Jennifer Curtis, Joseph Anderson; two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; brother, Bernard (Joanne) Manning of Portage; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1990, and her brother, Durwood Manning. The Memorial Service for Mrs. Anderson will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Appold of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Plainfield Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Spectrum-Health Hospice, 4500 Breton, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Relatives and friends may meet with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford.
