SHREVEPORT, LA - Arthur James White passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home, 1339 Jewell Street, Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 10395 Blanchard-Latex Road, Mooringsport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Leon Robertson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Arthur was born December 7, 1946 to Joe and Moorea White in Mooringsport, LA. He graduated from Walnut Hill High School in 1965 and joined the United States Army in October 1968. He proudly served until May 1970 which included a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Moorea White, one brother Henry Paul White and one nephew Eric B. McDaniels.
He leaves to mourn three daughters Tonya Walker-Thompson, Irving, TX, Tywanna Carter (Keydran), Arlington, TX, Tamara White, Shreveport, LA; one son Talvin Young (Christina), Kilgore, TX; three brothers Joe White Jr., Leigh, TX, Walter White (Suzette), Shreveport, LA, Eddie F. White (Linda), Haughton, LA; two sisters Eva L. White (Louis), Shreveport, LA and Minnie L. White, Shreveport, LA; seven grandchildren, Anthony Carter, Jordan Carter, Rachel White, Ashley White, Sierra White, Emmanuel Young, Elijah Young; one great-grandchild Khristian Carter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the Roseview Nursing Home staff for their exceptional love and care for the past 5½ years and to the doctors and staff at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center for their outstanding service.
