Joan was a 1945 graduate of Elyria High School and in 1948, graduated as a registered nurse from M.B. Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria. She had been employed as a registered nurse at University Hospitals EMH Regional Medical Center and after retiring, worked as a private duty nurse. Joan enjoyed bowling, bingo and golf and recorded a hole-in-one at Oberlin Golf Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Sadie Allen.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Reverend Craig Golden, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Elyria, will officiate.
