Elyria, OH -- Dale E. Abbe, 70, of Elyria, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Joanne Kenzig, following a long illness.

He was born in Elyria and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Abbe was employed by United Parcel Service as a driver for 18 years.

He attended Spring Valley Grace Brethren Church, Elyria, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed bowling and snacking and had raced slot cars when he was younger.

Survivors in addition to his daughter, Joanne Kenzig of Elyria, include a son, David Abbe of Elyria; sister, Lois Kivipelto of Thunder Bay, Ontario; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (née McDole); and his parents, Dudley W. and Blanche (née Burket) Abbe.

Friends may call Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria. The Rev. Jeffrey Brown, pastor of Spring Valley Grace Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Carlisle Township.
