Vonley E. "Sonny" Adams, 89, of Elyria died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Kingston of Vermilion, after an illness of several months. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Avenue, Elyria. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery with Military Honors.

Vonley E. "Sonny" Adams, 89, of Elyria died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Kingston of Vermilion, after an illness of several months. He was born August 21, 1922 in Yellow Springs, Ohio and lived in Elyria since 1953.

He was a graduate of East Lincoln High School in Xenia and attended college in Hampton, VA. Vonley is a World War II Navy Veteran and received the American, Victory-World War II medal. Before moving to Elyria, he was employed at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He retired from the Elyria Post Office. He also worked a few years at Premier Bank, now known as the First Merit Bank of Elyria. He was an original member of the Red Ryders Band, Cleveland Federation of Musicians, Local 4, supporter of the Sheriff's Department and State Highway Patrolman organizations and participated in community activities. Vonley loved music, especially jazz and his percussion instruments. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elyria where he was a faithful member of the Music Ministry before his recent membership at St. Agnes Church in Elyria.

Vonley enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones!

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Mildred; son Charles B.; parents LeRoy and Irma (nee Huff) Adams; his brother, sister, great-grandson and great-granddaughter.
