TIETON - Otha "Odie" L. Akins, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes on April 18, 2006.

Otha was born February 19, 1920 in Pyatt, Arkansas to William and Nola (McIntyre) Copeland. Odie was raised and educated in Pyatt and then went on to obtain her ordained minister license in CA. On April 12, 1941 she married Boyd R. Akins in Harrison, AR.

After WWII, they moved to Washington in 1946, living in Naches, Cowiche, and Tieton. Otha was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God in Naches. She spent most of her life raising her children and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring of family and friends.

Otha is survived by her son, Robbie Akins and wife, Marcia of Tieton; her sister, Mozelle Richardson of Oklahoma; and her brother, Robert Copeland and wife, Katherine of Oklahoma. She is survived by four grandchildren, Chris O'Dell of Cowiche, Kevin O'Dell of Puyallup, Antonne O'Dell of Kennewick and Heather Escobedo of Riverdale, CA; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd R. Akins and daughter, Mollie O. Breshears.

Graveside services will be held on April 21, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements. The online guest book is at valleyhillsfh.com
