Rose E. (Saporiti) Abbott, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow, Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012. She was born in Boston and was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. She was a former secretary of the Ofgant-Jackson Chevrolet Dealership, formerly of Roxbury. Rose was devoted to her family members and particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had lived in Longmeadow for the past two years and was formerly of Quincy and Braintree. She remembered and was close to her childhood friends during her lifetime. She enjoyed baking and participating in family celebrations. Rose was an avid Red Sox fan. She was the wife of the late John L. Jack Abbott, who died in 1977. She is survived by two devoted sons John L. Abbott married to Manny Abbott of Longmeadow and Daniel P. Abbott married to Patricia Jankowski-Abbott of Methuen. She was the loving grandmother of Jack A. Abbott, Jessica E. Abbott, Daniel P. Abbott, Jr. and Laura L. Abbott. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Alexis P. Carroll. Rose was the sister of the late Angelo, Charles, Joe and Frank Saporiti. A prayer service will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. The Reverend James McCarthy will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary, Boston. Visiting hour will be Tuesday from 10-11 a.m., prior to the prayer service. Memorial donations may be sent to the Spectrum Home Health and Hospice Care, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow, MA 01106
