Elizabeth Rose Dressen Anderson passed away peacefully on September 2, 2016, at her son’s home in Applegate, CA, at the age of 99.
Betty was born in Colfax, CA, to Bernard and Mary Jane Dressen on June 30, 1917. She grew up with her cousins in Colfax and graduated from Placer High School.
She loved See’s Candy and proudly worked at two of the first See’s Candies shops in San Francisco, then in South San Francisco in the early 1930’s.
Betty married W. W. Hap Anderson on July 27, 1940, in the Colfax Methodist Church. They lived in Sacramento until 1949 when they moved to Reno, NV, to open the Nevada Sea Food Company. Hap passed away in 1966. After leaving Nevada Seafood, Betty and her good friend Jackie Freeman McDonald co-owned and operated a Mary Moppets Nursery School in Reno. In 1985 Betty moved to Sacramento to care for her mother and sister until their deaths. In 2013 she moved to Applegate where she lived out her years, eight miles from where she was born. She loved her role as mother and friend. She was always available to help as needed.
Betty is survived by her daughter and sons. She was an extremely proud grandma and loved becoming a great-grandma and delighted in being “GG” to her 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, great-niece and many cousins.
Betty loved gardening, keeping her small flower garden so full you could hardly pass through. She spent many hours there making it beautiful. Betty always cooked her own meals, no one else could make it like she loved it. Everyone benefited. She is greatly missed.
Betty is remembered as a great mother, grandma, great-grandma and a dear friend to many.
