Juanita S. Adame, 81, of Bryan passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Bryan City cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 11, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 12, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Sunday by Monsignor John McCaffrey.

Juanita was born on August 22, 1927, to Inez and Eudelia Santos in Cotulla, Texas. She lived in Bryan since 1981. She worked as a school bus driver, driving the bilingual route. She also took care of all of her grandchildren since their birth, and cared for various other children.

Juanita enjoyed sewing, making homemade quilts by hand, dancing, music and working in her yard. She especially enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mariola and Ovidio Rodriguez; brother, Larry Santos; sister, Eudelia Martinez; and grandson, Joseph Anthony Santos.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Juan P. Adame; sons and daughters-in-law, Juan Manuel and Ofelia Chavana of Pearsall, Texas, and Efrain and Modesta Santos of The Woodlands, Texas; daughters, Maria Galindo of Dilley, Texas, and Veronica and Melissa Adame of Bryan; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Esmerald and Trine Santos of Dilley, Texas, and Elodia Lozano of San Antonio.

The family would like to thank Dr. Samuel Barina, Hospice Brazos Valley, especially Mary Anne, and Texas Home Health, especially Wade Earl, for their expert care. The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to the CCU nurses in Section A, especial to Luis Guiterrez, and the medical floor unit at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, for the loving care they gave Juanita. Also, thank you to friends and family of the Adame family, especially Juanita's grandchildren, for lending a hand in the family's time of need.

Pallbearers will be John Adame, Juan M. Chavana Jr., Abel Flores, Benito Galindo, Justin Galindo, Salome Galindo, Efrain Hernandez, Daniel Chavana and Steven Santos.
