He was born on April 7, 1923, at Greer, a son of the late Robert and Ivy Lewis Anderson.
He was a member of the Nicholson Chapel Church. He was a former coal miner, contractor and carpenter and an avid ramp hunter.
He is survived by five daughters and spouses, Patty and Robert Phillips, of Fairmont, Nancy and Wayne Poole, Brookhaven, Midge and Roger Shaffer, Arthurdale, Barbara and David Campbell, Owl Creek Road, Rose Anderson and companion John Salisbury, Granville; two sons and spouse, Eddie and Joyce Anderson, Stoystown, Pa., and Robert Anderson, Owl Creek Road; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Louise Canter Anderson, and one brother, Edward Townsend.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 11, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Francis Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Nicholson Chapel Church, 1800 Summer School Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
