At a young age he attended North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army from September 1990 to August 1990. In the last Sunday of the month of February 1982, in a little warehouse in Hawaii, he became a born again believer of his faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, under the Ministry of Pastor Andrew Anderson. Later, he attended the Way Fair Church of God in Christ under the Ministry of Pastor John Harvey in San Antonio, Texas. In 1994, he was honored to serve faithfully with his own brother, naturally and spiritually, Pastor Donald R. Minister Tommy Douglas met and married Sister Felicia Douglas February 26, 1994.

Tommy was always a cheerful person and loved to meet people. He always gave a good impression upon meeting people. He never met a stranger that he didn't befriend. He was an outspoken person who preached the Gospel, looking for souls to save.

Grippon; three special nieces, Krtina Coleman, Deangela Coleman, and Jade Coleman; one special great nephew, Terrence Coleman; one sister-in-law, Laquinthelyn Williams.
