WILFORD AMSBURY
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. --- Graveside services for Wilford "Shanty" Amsbury, 80, who died Monday in Colorado Springs of a kidney ailment, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Melcher-Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas, Ia. A service was held Wednesday in Colorado Springs.
Mr. Amsbury was born in Hiteman, Ia., and had lived in Brooklyn, Ia., until 1949, when he moved to the Melcher-Dallas area. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 45 years until his retirement in 1970, when he moved to Colorado Springs.
Survivors include his two daughters, Margaret Amsbury and Jane Paul, both of Colorado Springs; one sister, Ruth Farwell of Orion, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Swan-Law Funeral Home in Colorado Springs is handling funeral arrangements.
