John Lester Adams
1949 ~ 2016
John Lester Adams, 67, of Boise, Idaho, was released from his pain, in his sleep, by our heavenly Father on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
John was born on April 22, 1949 to Imogene and William Adams in Wendall, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, David William Adams; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Jeri; daughters: Shayla (Shane) Hutchison, Lisa (Ryan) Peterson and Shawnisty (Rob) Webber; sons, Michael Adams and Robert John Adams; sister, Billie Jean (Harold) Bratsko; step-mother, Lorna Adams; brother, Tom Hogard; sisters, Linda McGee and Pearl Hogard; granddaughter, Samantha Hutchison; grandsons: Chase Hill, Stephen Hutchison, James Webber, Landen and Dylan Peterson; and the light and greatest source of joy of this last year, his great-grandson, Oliver Hutchison.
John grew up transferring between his mother in Wenatchee, Washington and his father in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Borah High School in 1967. John was then drafted into the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Later, he was active in Veterans Against the War and hosted Dr. Spock during that tumultuous time. John was basically a jack-of-all-trades, holding various jobs ranging from bar-tending to installing windows. John's passions were golf, history, camping, classic movies, music and books, wood-working, cross-word puzzles, and trivia. All who knew John knew that he could go on at length about any of the above topics and then some!
John met Jeri, the love of his life, while going to ITT Tech. John made his move when Jeri needed a ride home one night. Marrying in January 1981, in the home of honorary parents John and Carol Nicholson, they combined their families and lives with love. Together they raised their children and built a happy life living in Nampa and Boise.
John's family and friends were the most important part of his life. John would give the shirt off his back to anyone and not expect, nor willingly accept, anything in return. He was a proponent of the "Pay it Forward" philosophy. To John, no one was a stranger, just a friend he hadn't met yet.
Services for John will be held at 1 p.m. on October 22nd at The LDS Church, 6711 Northview St. (between Cole & Curtis) Boise, ID. There will be a small luncheon for family and friends immediately after. There will also be a short Military Ceremony on October 28 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Cemetery in Boise, ID. At that time, his ashes will be placed in the Columbarium Niche.
