Clarence W. Aavang of Woodstock Services for Clarence W. Aavang, 84, will be held at 10:30am Monday, at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, with the Rev. Randy Willers officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am until the time of the services Monday, at the church.

Born April 30, 1920, in Greenwood, the son of Almer and Lillie (nee Schroeder) Aavang, he died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home in Woodstock. Mr. Aavang was a farmer for all his life.

He was a past member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. He was a member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau. He received his pilot's license and loved to fly, he was a member of the soaring club. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Cora (nee Thorhaug), whom he married on Aug. 28, 1945; sons, Terry (Sue) Aavang of Huntley and Ronald (Theresa) Aavang of LaCrosse, Wis.; daughter, Karen (Arden) Miller of Union; grandchildren, Emma and Bekah; brothers, Rodney (Libby) Aavang of Greenwood and Victor (Betty) Aavang of Woodstock; and sister, Ethel Wilcox of Deer River, Minn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer; son, Alan; and sister, Bessie Worm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL. Arrangements were made by Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Published in Chicago Suburban Daily Herald on Oct. 8, 2004.
