Private 28054 Benjamin Challenger, The King's Liverpool Regiment was one of the eight children of iron worker Benjamin Challenger and Harriet Challenger nee Jones. He was baptised on 5 March 1890 at Christ Church, Bradford.

Sadly both Benjamin and his brother Joseph lost their lives in the Great War. Benjamin was laid to rest in the family grave at Gorton Cemetery aged 28. He was entitled to be awarded the British WW1 medals and his next of kin would have been sent the Memorial Death Plaque of WW1.

Commemorated in perpetuity by Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
