Eleanor Campbell Adams, 81, 500 E. Seminary St., Vevay, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1922, in Madison, the daughter of Carl and Afria Higgins Campbell. She lived most of her life in Vevay. She was employed at the Seagram's Distillery in Lawrence from 1941 to 1945, and retired in 1984 from the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Vevay. She had worked as a waitress at the Vevay American Legion. She was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars ladies auxiliaries in Vevay.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Adams of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bucky Adams of Covington, Ky.; one daughter, Cynthia Adams of Indianapolis; one sister, Opal Beach of Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth G. Adams, in August 1984; and two sisters, Bertie Tague in October 1989, and Jean Lows in November 1999.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Legion Relief Fund.
