604 Squadron's Bristol Blenheim I (#L6782) was on an air operational flight, when it crashed near Witheridge, Exeter, taking the lives of two members of the crash and seriously injuring another airman, who died the following day from the injuries he'd sustained in the crash.

The airmen who perished in this accident were-

RAFVR Leading Aircraftman Albert Lawrence AUSTIN,

RAF Sergeant John Gordon Bewley FLETCHER and

RAF Sergeant Cyril HAIGH.
