Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson for Mr. Charles F. "Red" Leonard, Sr., 80, a native of Monroe.

A longtime former resident of Morgan City and Montgomery, and a resident of Ricohoc for the past six years, who passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 1:15 PM at the Morgan City Health Care Center.

He will be laid to rest in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Leonard, Jr., Tommy Dyson, Sr., Adrian Bailey, Charles A. Leonard, Christopher Leonard, and Brandon LeJeune. Pastor Marty Harden will officiate the services.

Mr. Red was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He loved and raised animals, enjoyed wrestling and taking his family camping, and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Morgan City Mudslingers, the Civitans, and was an organizer of the Civinettes. He started his own business, Gem Wire and Slings, in Morgan City, which he owned and operated for 12 years until selling the business and retiring in 1977. Following retiring, he and his wife moved to Montgomery, LA, where they resided until 2007. They then returned to St. Mary Parish to be closer to family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Olivia L. (Tiny) Leonard of Ricohoc; four children, Linda L. LeJeune of Arkansas, Trudy L. Dyson and her husband Tommy Dyson, Sr. of Houma, Charles F. Leonard, Jr. and his wife Kristy of Tennessee, and Sharon L. Vaughn of Morgan City; two sisters, Norma L. Nobles of Houma and Laura L. Rome of Metairie; ten grandchildren, Adrian Bailey, Gay Sisk, Brandon LeJeune, Lisa Marcum, Tera Gaidry, Tommy Dyson, Jr., Charles A. Leonard, Christopher Leonard, Gary Hotard, Jr., and Jade Broussard; 18 great grandchildren, Terry, Carrie, Cory, Monique, Adrianna, Jacob, David, Donavan, Kelsey, Evan, Owen, Luke, Cameron, Emily, Jake, Ali, Gavin, and Eric; and one great great grandchild, Ashlyn.

He was preceded in death his parents, Harvey Leonard and Lucille D. Leonard; one brother, Frank Leonard; two sisters, Gloria Dalio and Charlotte Presswood; and one great grandchild, Mia Gaidry.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially his nurses, Dawn Verret and Holly Savoie, for the loving and compassionate care given to Mr. Red.
