Carol Cumorah Leach Davis, 78, a resident of Columbia and a former resident of Berwick, La., passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at University Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with a visitation being held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Carol will be laid to rest with her husband and son in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson, La., at a later date.

Carol was born July 28, 1937, in Middlesex, N.Y., the daughter of Samuel Gibson and Harriet Mertz Leach.

Carol was a very talented artist who loved to paint and draw pictures. Many of Carol’s paintings and drawings were given to her family members and can be found hanging on their walls today.

She had a green thumb and a love for gardening, and she could oftentimes be found outdoors tending to her many plants and flowers in her beautiful flower garden.

In her early years, living in south Louisiana, Carol was a member of the ladies Mardi Gras Krewe known as the Krewe of Galatea, where she served as a maid in the royal court.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four children, Tod Davis and husband Joseph Winkley of Randolph, Mass., Leslie Davis Hardaway and husband Rusty of Berwick, La., Lisa Davis Rieken and husband Tony of Columbia, and Lynne Ann Davis of Nixa; nine grandchildren, Amber Hardaway Yager and husband Ryan of Patterson, La., Megan Davis Chavez and husband Mathew of Berwick, La., Russell L. Hardaway Jr. and wife Jessica of Berwick, La., Jade Hardaway of Berwick, La., Rebecca “Becca” Davis and fiancé Dwayne Lacey of Columbia, Korey Kilpatrick and Mallory Kilpatrick, both of Columbia, Mikayla Hardaway of Berwick, La., and Olivia Scammell of Nixa; eight great-grandchildren, Ryley Chavez, Cerene Chavez, Peyton Walter, Russell Hardaway III, Brandon Hardaway, Austin Walter, Karson Yager, and Kolton Yager; one sister, Sandra Madsen of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and one brother, Benjamin Leach of Ogden, Utah.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Gibson Leach and Harriet Mertz Varney; husband, Oliver Lee Davis II; one son, James Lee “Jimmy” Davis; three sisters, Arvella “Toucoo” Leach, Margaret “Peg” Eusanio, Lavonne “Bonnie” Gonser; and one brother, William “Bill” Leach.
