Deceased Name: Douglas Francis Champagne rites slated

Douglas Francis Champagne, 73, a native of Bayou Boeuf and resident of Lake Charles, passed away on June 27, 2006, at 8:35 a.m. at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Emely Blanco Champagne of Lake Charles; three daughters, Beatrice C. Hill and her husband, Fred, of Lake Charles, Donna Champagne of Lake Charles and Clau-dine C. Hargrave and her husband, Ellis, of Kaplan; one brother, Eckells Champagne of North Carolina; one sister, Lois Freyou of Bayou Boeuf; six grandchildren, Adrine and Gabriel Champagne, Ellis and Frank Hargrave, Theresa Allemang and Elizabeth Hill; and five great-grandchildren, Anna, Justin, Lexie, Taylor and Kaitlyn Allemang.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrine Champagne and Hazel Montet Champagne; one brother, Jeffery Champagne; and one son-in-law, Francis Hetherwick.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson, with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The mortuary will reopen Thursday at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary with Monsignor Richard Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson.

Mr. Champagne was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Korean Conflict. Military honors will be provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary Inc. in Patterson.
