THOMAS BACHERT

Thomas Bachert, 73, resident of Quakake for the past 26 years, passed away at his home at 12:15 p.m. yesterday, following a thirteen months illness. Mr. Bachert was born in Tamaqua in 1874. Prior to his residence in Quakake he lived in Lehighton and Delano. He was the son of the late Michael Bachert and the late Emma Haldemen. The deceased was a member of the Ascension Lutheran church of Quakake, served for fifteen years as secretary of the Ascension Church Council; was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, No. 854, of Delano, the Asa Packer I.O.O.S., No. 328, Delano, and the Quakake Council, No. 217 F.P. A. Mr. Bachert retired from the employer of the Lehigh Valley Railroad, for which he served for almost fifty years as an engineer. Surviving are; his wife, the former Mary Moyer and two brothers, Harry Bachert of North Plainfield, N.J., and Morris Bachert, of Quakake. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the residence in Quakake, with further services in the Ascension church of Quakake. The Rev. Verne E. Snyder will be in charge of the services. Interment will be in Barnesville cemetery.
