Marion T. Dietrich

Marion T. Dietrich (nee Thoerner), 93, of Marmora, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday evening, Aug. 11, 2010, surrounded by her family.

The wife of the late Karl G. Dietrich who passed away in 1990, she was born in Mahanoy, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Henry Thoerner and the late Martha Thoerner (nee Bibleheimer). She was a graduate of Pottsville High School.

Mrs. Dietrich was a homemaker her entire life. She focused herself on her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a meticulous woman who was well read and kept current on local and national news. Mrs. Dietrich loved poetry and was a talented seamstress who enjoyed creating beautiful quilts. She was a people person who had an extensive network of friends.

She was a life member of the Methodist Church and most recently was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Marmora. Mrs. Dietrich was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Woman and an active member of the senior citizen social group "Best of Life." She will sadly be missed by all who knew her.

Her survivors include four children, Lynn DeVoe and her husband, John, of Hopewell Township, Blair Dietrich and his wife, Nancy, of Marmora, Glenn Dietrich and his wife, Susan, of Wall Township and Mark Dietrich and his wife, Krista, of Point Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Geoffrey DeVoe and his wife, Helen, of East Rutherford, Danielle Major and her husband Adam of Woodridge, Matthew and Michael Dietrich of Wall Township, Gregory, Zachary, Kasey and Nicolas Dietrich, all of Point Pleasant, and Rebecca Dietrich of Marmora; and two great-granddaughters, Devyn and Teagan DeVoe. She was preceded in death by one brother, Blair Thoerner.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 20 N. Shore Road, Marmora, on Sunday Aug. 22 at 3 p.m.

Rev. Merton Steelman, Rev. Ralph Barrett and Rev. Harry Hill will be officiating.

The interment will take place privately on a later date at Bethany Methodist Cemetery in Barnesville, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, 20 N. Shore Road, Marmora, NJ 08223 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 65039, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton NJ 08302.
