Vernon L. "Louie" Blankenhorn, 62, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Marianne and devoted father to Malinda Curnow and Vernon Blankenhorn Jr.
Born in Pottsville, Aug. 27, 1952, he was a son of the late Edith Laubenstine and Herman Blankenhorn.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Orwigsburg.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He was last employed by the Pottsville Gas Co.
In addition to his wife, Louie is survived by a daughter, Malinda Curnow, wife of Ed, Lake Wynonah; a son, Vernon L. Blankenhorn Jr., husband of Laura, Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren, Cole Smith, Ashtyn Curnow, Elena Buchanan and Gretchen and Jaden Blankenhorn, Alexander Shoener, and Lindsey Shoener; and siblings, Marion Bartolett, widow of Paul, Lake Wynonah, Paul Blankenhorn, husband of Edna, Schuylkill Haven, Carl "Skip" Blankenhorn, husband of Carol, Schuylkill Haven, Faye Potts, wife of Gary, Friedensburg, Doris Brown, wife of Larry, Friedensburg, Carol Sullivan, wife of George, Schuylkill Haven, Karen Sylvester, wife of Anthony, Saint Clair, Harold "Butch," husband of Linda, Schuylkill Haven, and Sharon Koch, wife of Keith, Lake Wynonah.
A Celebration of Life funeral service was held at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Lou Hornberger officiating.
