James Louis Acker, 86, died Feb. 10 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Acker had been living at the residence of his daughter, Miss Liller Acker, Centre, Route 2.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Methodist Church, Rev. Curtis Singleton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, Jordan Funeral Home in charge.
Surviving are four sons, Orvin Acker, Cave Spring, GA, Route 1, Roy Acker, Piedmont, Route 1, Harvey and Marvin Acker both of Centre, Route 1; two daughters, Mrs. Luke Weaver, Centre, Route 1 and Miss Liller Acker; 25 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was a native of Cherokee County and a retired farmer. He was a former deacon of Noah Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Herbert Acker, J.L. Wood, Jack Acker, John Roy Acker, Noalen Wood, Doyle Acker, James Acker, Herman and Thurman Mobley.
